Big Brothers Big Sisters - Erie County PA
 

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Erie County PA provides adult role models to children 6 to 13 years old from single parent families. The volunteer initiates consistent contact four to six hours a month, one-to-one with a child for a minimum of one year. The Volunteer provides positive social, recreational, cultural and interpersonal activities for the child. A case manager provides supervision of the match in order to ensure that the children's needs are being met.

The primary funding for Big Brothers Big Sisters comes from an annual fund raiser, Bowl For Kids' Sake, the United Way of Erie County PA, and Erie County Office of Children & Youth in PA.

Who Should Be Referred?

  • Resident of Erie County PA
  • Between 6 and 13 years of age at time of inquiry
  • Children residing in one-parent families are primary recipients of the service
  • Program designed to service vulnerable children and their families in need of social support
Who Can Be a Volunteer?

  • Resident of Erie County PA
  • At least 19 years of age
  • Have a valid driver's license and proof of car insurance
  • Complete application, assessment, and training process
  • Be able to commit as a volunteer for one (1) year
  • Receive Act 33/34 clearance
